Radiation Training

All University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students who require authorization to use or handle radioactive materials or operate equipment that produces ionizing radiation must successfully complete specific training. In addition, anyone who has access to areas where radioactive materials are used or stored must also complete training even though they may not be authorized to handle or use the material.

The Radiation Protection Division (RPD) offers annual in-person training as a part of its audit process of radioactive material users and x-ray equipment operators. The RPD can customize training sessions for individual departments, facilities and/or groups that need training in a specific area. For more information contact DEHS at (612) 626-6002 or dehs@umn.edu.
